$  0x4D44 is “MD” in hexadecimal — a small joke for an audience of mostly programmers and railway historians.

The almanac collects standalone documents written on the side: long arguments about railways, short pieces of fiction, the occasional almanac entry. Drafts are kept in the open and marked accordingly.

Pieces are served as static HTML from a single GitHub repository. Filing, indexing, and accessioning are done by hand.
